Disc golf,
made simple.
Never thrown a disc? This guide tells you everything: the rules, the discs, your first throw, and what a Sunday with us looks like. Five minutes of reading and you're ready.
Spoiler: if you can throw a frisbee, you can already play 🥏
Like golf,
but with discs.
The idea is simple: reach a metal basket by throwing a disc in as few throws as possible. You start from a tee, throw again from wherever the disc lands, until it drops into the basket. Eighteen times in a row, that's a round.
No engine, no subscription, no dress code. Just you, a disc, and a big park.
That's a "basket". The goal is to land the disc in it!
Three discs, three jobs.
A bit like golf clubs. No need to buy anything: we lend you everything you need.
Putter
Thick and stable, it flies gently. The disc that finishes in the basket, and a beginner's best friend.
Mid-range
The Swiss army knife: decent distance, lots of control. Perfect for approach shots.
Driver
Thin and sharp, it cuts the air for distance. More demanding: save it for later.
It all fits in five points.
The first throw is from the tee
Each hole starts on a marked tee area on the ground.
Play from where the disc stops
Your next throw is from just behind where the disc landed (the "lie").
Furthest from the basket throws first
You take turns, calmly, without getting in each other's way.
The hole ends in the basket
The disc must stay in the basket or chains. "Clang!", it counts.
Count your throws, fewest wins
"Par" is the expected number of throws. Making par is already great!
Your first good throw.
Three simple moves. Accuracy beats power, always.
Hold it firmly
Thumb on top, fingers curled under the rim. Grip tight: the disc shouldn't move in your hand.
Shoulder to target
Stand sideways, shoulders lined up to the basket. The disc goes where your arm points.
Flat and smooth
Pull the disc in then forward, release it flat at chest height. Think "whip", not "hammer".
Good manners in the park.
Wait until it's clear. Never throw if a group or a walker is within range.
Shout "Fore!" if your disc flies toward someone. It's the universal warning call.
Respect the park. Take your litter, stay on play areas, look after the trees.
Share the space. The park is public: walkers, children and leashed dogs belong here too.
Your first Sunday, stress-free.
We meet almost every Sunday morning at the Plaine des Sports. No sign-up, no level required: come along, say hello, we handle the rest.
